DYNAMIC CHARACTERIZATIONS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC ACTUATORS

Abstract
This work aims at identifying the static and dynamic behavior of four electromagnetic actuators deriving their Bode diagrams. The actuators are used in a rotating machine hybrid bearing and are responsible for controlling its vibration amplitudes. In this case, it was necessary to know both the force responses and the delay amplitudes of each component of the system, related to the working frequency bandwidth 0 to 300 Hz. Then, this behavior should be incorporated to the numerical model able to compensate amplitude and phase variations inherent to the considered electromagnetic actuators. The experiment for data acquisition consists of a National Instruments NI USB-6259 control board, a Maxon Motor ADS 50/10 50V / 10 201583 current amplifier, a Piezotronics 208C02 PCB load cell, a Piezotronics 480C02 PCB signal conditioner, a TCPA300 Tektronix current measurement system, an electromagnetic actuator, and a voltage external source.
