Abstract
This work addresses the practical synthetic estimation of the angle of attack and sideslip of a Telemaster Senior unmanned aircraft (UAV). Synthetic estimation uses data collected by the auto pilot Micropilot LRC2, comprised of INS, GPS, magnetometer and pitot tube. The system can be used as a redundant system for the measurements of conventional air data system. The estimation makes use of flight data such as relative ground velocity data, velocity measured by a pitot tube and attitude angles. The necessary data are then used for the final estimation of the angles of attack and sideslip using the wind triangle method. The methodology is presented with tests made in adverse climatic conditions and favorable weather conditions, comparing the robustness of the estimation algorithm. Ongoing research plan to compare the synthetic air date system with standard air date system (pitot and vanes).
