COMPARISON OF NUMERICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL METHODS OF AEROELASTIC ANALYSIS OF A FLYING WING

Abstract
This work will present the aeroelastic study of an RC flying wing configuration aircraft, which presents full of its structure as a composite material. This study aims to determine the natural frequencies and vibration modes using Finite Elements Models and Ground Vibration Tests. From data gathered by FEM and GVT, a flutter analysis using dynamic models in MATLAB was conducted. At finally a comparison between a composite material structure and an aluminum structure was performed to verify the improvement in empty weight without aeroelastic effects.
