THE CONSEQUENCES OF TUTORING AND PSYCHO-PEDAGOGICAL SUPPORT IN THE ENGINEERING EDUCATION

Abstract
he Project “Motivação” have as objective reducing the student retention into the UFU’s engineering courses and provide both academic and psychological support to the participating students. This project begun in 2018 in the bachelor course of Mechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FEMEC) and, in its second realization, reached others university departments and courses. The principal activities from the project were the orientation of the enrolled students through tutors, both from UFU’s bachelors engineering courses, with the creation of new study routines and a bond between the students. This was accompanied by encounters at a Phycological Aid Group (GAP) for sharing experiences among the participants and giving them orientation. Those actions were guided by members of the psychology and pedagogy UFU’s courses as they were more capable to provide tools to help the students to face adversities alone after the end of the program. The results were mostly positives, being well received by the tutored and tutors, showing development principally at the quality of life of the participants.
