Abstract
The strut-and-tie models can be an excellent alternative for the design of reinforced concrete structures in regions with geometric or static discontinuity, replacing empirical procedures with a rational design methodology. The present article uses the topological optimization technique ESO (Evolucionary Structural Optimization) allied to the Finite Element Method for elastic-linear analysis of structures subjected to plane stress state. This way, it is possible to obtain optimized solutions in the structural design of a given problem. To validate the implemented methodology, optimal topologies of three distinct examples are presented, namely: bridge structure, deep beam with a large hole and Michell structure.
