Abstract
From the 19th century, with the advent of instrumentation, it was possible to establish global scale monitoring for a specific set of climatic variables, including daily sunshine, such as the astronomical duration of the day or the number of hours of sun that appears outside the clouds, thus allowing the arrival of radiation to the earth's surface. The measurement of daily sunshine is performed using the Campbell-Stokes Heliograph which, although it is a consolidated method over the last 100 years, is still performed directly by means of instruments that make use of reading and interpretation of an operator to evaluate the effective duration of the daytime period. The development of the device occurred through the use of fuzzy logic, allowing to achieve errors of up to 5% in relation to the official dataof the National Institute of Meteorology.
