Abstract
This work is part of a project to hybridize an 800CC two-stroke internal combustion motor, originally fabricated for the BR800 Gurgel car, through the adapting of a electric motor/generator in series with its axes. The experimental setup is built on a test bench at the Electric Vehicle Laboratory of the University of Brasilia. The electric motor is a specially built brushless DC motor and the objective is to implement a control strategy for this electric motor, with the design of the electric drive system. Methodology. The electric motor and its drive are presented and the diversos methods to implement its control. It is expected that the proposed drive and control system will be able to start the internal combustion motor.
