Abstract
This paper proposes a Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) that uses a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) to cal- culate the command to achieve the required yaw moment to improve lateral stability. Proposed VSC effectiveness was observed in Model-in-the-loop (MIL) simulations that include models of controller, vehicle dynamic and a human driver reaction at steering command. Results for Double Lane Change (DLC) maneuver demonstrates that proposed controller is able to improve stability, allowing the vehicle to perform maneuvers that it is unable to perform without VSC.
