Abstract
The present study’s objective is to evaluate the ground’s velocity boundary condition modelling of the flow around the Ahmed body. The ground is usually modeled as static, in spite of the fact that there is a relative velocity between the ground and the Ahmed body. The influence of this boundary condition is evaluated using the CFD tool OpenFOAM 6.0. Phenomenological aspects are pointed out as the behavior of the stagnation point, recirculation zones and aerodynamic forces.
