Abstract
Aluminum alloys are receiving increasing attention and interest of study due to their versatility and application in the most varied sectors, this work aims to investigate the correlation between the microstructure and the mechanical properties of alloy Al0.4% W cold rolled. For this purpose, an ingot of an Al0.4% W alloy was solidified ascending unidirectionally where the process thermal variables were recorded for later association with the obtained results. Samples were taken from different heights of ingots and wires were produced by cold rolling, which occurred in successive reduction passes. The macrostructure has a predominantly columnar zone, and the microstructures will be studied, related to the mechanical properties, with the thermal variables and compared to the microstructures and the mechanical properties of the material in the molten state. At the end of the work, it is sought to relate the microstructure to the microhardness through the Hall-Pech equation and to add to the literature information about the behavior of this alloy when cold rolled. The mechanical properties to be studied are Vickers microhardness, damping factor and dynamic modulus of elasticity.
