Abstract
The concern about the environment is highly increasing, and one ofthe main polluters are the conventional engines, that commonly have high emission taxes. As the legislation increase the taxes for the companies that have high emission vehicles, they tend to innovate. The usual solution of this problem is the development of less pollutant and more efficient 4 stroke alternative engines, even if they end up with a high production cost and limited spots to develop. Another way of decreasing or compensate emissions is the use of biofuels, but as the conventional engines have a fixed compression ratio (CR), they work with only one or two fuel types. A good solution to this problem is to develop new engines, as the Kopelrot Rotary Engine (KRE). The KRE can change its CR in order to enable and optimize the use of different fuels, allowing it to be environmentally friendly. It also may optimize engine efficiency through all the rpm range and loads. This paper shows estimated fuel combinations that a KRE can use and why it is a good solution to the environmental problems.
