Abstract
The permanent abandonment of offshore wells represents a significant part of drilling cost and the traditional plug-and-abandonment (P&A) method used of exploration wells in the world is to set a series of cement plugs to isolate the pressurized zones from each other and from surface, but the costs of this are enormous. The demand for alternative methods for bypass well-integrity issues such as those caused by shrinking of cement or gas migration during setting, fracturing after setting, or long-term degradation by exposure to heat and chemical substances in the well. Within this work will not be addressed the temporary abandonment of wells, as well as the decommissioning of platforms and this work is in line with resolution 46 published in 2016 by the ANP that deals with integrity and abandonment of wells. This paper describes some an emerging P&A technologies, an alternative method was used with a thermosetting polymers (resins), unconsolidated sand slurries and thermite. Analyzing the emerging methodologies, observing that only a thermite technology becomes a gain when it is related to the decrease of a being used in the abandonment of the well, thus substantially reducing the cost of the operation associated whith mechanically removing all tubing from the bottom of the hole, up to a drilling or workover rig and the wellbore is then filled with cement which is able to bond with steel.
