Abstract
In order to advance the knowledge of two-phase flows in porous media, an experimental technique has been gaining considerable space in several research areas related to fluid flow, due to its great versatility in terms of the data generated. The technique called Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is very interesting when studying geometries that present uncertainties regarding the fluids flow behavior, as is the case of the doublet pore model. This is due to the fact that it is a non-intrusive optical technique that allows to monitor simultaneously the entire velocity field of the investigated region. In this work, PIV recordings were performed in a single phase flow of water occurring along the doublet pore. The objective is to obtain experimental data that can be compared with data from a reliable numerical simulation, in order to validate the experiment. Afterwards, recordings will be made on two-phase flows, being water and oil, to obtain data of the interface between the phases. With the accomplishment of the future work, it is proposed to generate quantitative data that can be used to model the geometry and to advance in the understanding of the phenomenon.
