Abstract
Flow-Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) occurs with a greater susceptibility in carbon steel components that operate at high temperatures. However, the occurrence of FAC at low temperatures and neutral pH has been recorded in cooling and feed systems, with high degradation rates. Thus, the experiment was carried out to collect data for these conditions. Tests were performed in a closed circuit in which the fluid was controlled and monitored while recirculating in the test section. FAC was evaluated using a visual non-destructive test (borescope), micrography, and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD).
