Abstract
Understanding the importance of using alternative energy sources, the present article aims to produce a theoretical review of the technologies involved in a Power-to-Gas system(including water electrolysis, hydrogen storage, CO2 capture and methanation), as well as a thermodynamic analysis of the system, including all the diverse processes that structure it. The results obtained include partial and total efficiencies, a discussion about the acquired values, and also indicate aspects where improvements are possible in the plant as a whole. From the results, a possible solution to make P2G plants economically attractive stands out: using the surplus thermal energy provided as a product of the system’s processes.
