Abstract
Various geometries can be seen in everyday life, where the cylindrical is quite view in towers, buildings, platforms, and pillars, characterizing its large academic importance. The present work involves an experimental and numerical analysis of the flow around two cylinders with 29.7 mm of diameter in a low speed wind tunnel. The experimental analysis were performed in a low speed wind tunnel of the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte – PUC-MG -, and a numerical analysis was performed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques through commercial software Ansys-CFX® 18.2. The flow around two circular cylinders placed in the test section of a wind tunnel for a blower rotation of 2500 rpm has evaluated. The velocity and flow pressure fields showed, as well as the drag force on the cylinder and the point of detachment of the boundary layer, determined by the pressure coefficient. The behavior of the flow around the cylinders was in agreement with the literature data, in wich has observed separation of the flow at different points. The numerical test was characterized by a transient regime.
