Abstract
Companies have problems defining the type of grinding wheel with the best cost x benefit, considering errors of geometric shapes in high quality grinding process with high peripheral speeds. This research was carried out to compare the performance of grinding wheels with "seeded-gel" and "CBN" abrasives in the process of external cylindrical plunge grinding of 100CR6 steel in range of high peripheral speeds. Different specific material removal rates and high peripheral speeds were used and geometric errors were verified. The results showed that “seeded-gel” had a better geometric shape than “CBN” and can be a very good process alternative.
