Physical-mechanical characterization of a clay sample through preliminary tests

Abstract
This work presents the physical-mechanical characterization of a clay sample by means of preliminary tests. Initial tests of moisture percentage, linear retraction at a temperature of 110 ºC, granulometric distribution, chemical elements verification and determination of bending rupture stress were performed. As results, it was found the values of moisture, linear retraction and the denomination of the clay type, according to the chemical elements present that will serve to determine the possible use of the clay sample in the industries.
