Abstract
This work describes an experimental procedure characterization of draping behavior of dry composite woven fabrics using the uniaxial bias extension test. Based on experimental evidences a non-orthogonal hypo-elastic constitutive model that enables tracking of the rotation of fiber during the forming process is proposed and implemented into ABAQUS/Explicit FE code within shell elements. Numerical simulations were performed at coupon level and subcomponent levels to validate the model. Good agreement between results was found.
