COMPUTATIONAL SIMULATION ON THE PERFORMANCE IN THE COOLING STAVE DESIGN OF BLAST FURNACE

Abstract
Cooling stave is one of the most important element when it comes to blast furnace, because it may extend its life and the reduce cost of iron marking. A lot of works talk about cooling stave with serpentine and its effects on blast furnace. Temperature and heat transfer by stave are examined using finite volume method trough ANSYS CFX in this paper. The performance of blast furnace stave with different serpentine channel are analyzed using water as a coolant. Pressure drop, temperature distributions and heat transfer rates are analyzed comparatively the cases studied to determine the most appropriate designs.
