Abstract
The fatigue life of an aluminum alloy and the effect caused by artificial small defects are investigated. S-N curves were obtained with and without defects. A significant reduction in the fatigue life of the material was observed in the former case. This fact indicates a high sensibility of this material to small stress concentrators.
