TECHINICAL ANALYSIS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF COGENERATION IN A COMMERCIAL CENTER

Abstract
The objective of this work is to perform the technical feasibility analysis of a cogeneration system through the energy and exergetic analysis of a distributed generation plant located in a Shopping Center and Hotel do Agreste Pernambucano. The distributed generation plant has a total power of 3960 KVA and operates according to the Diesel Cycle, only at peak times (5:30 pm to 9:00 pm). The work consisted, initially, of an exergetic analysis of the exergy available in the exhaust gases and, later, of the technical analysis of the chiller of absorption (cogeneration system) that will have as function the production of hot and cold water. The cogeneration system would have as benefits the reduction of the electric consumption by the conventional systems of cooling and heating of water. The EES (Engineer Equation Solver) was used to simulate and evaluate the proposed cogeneration plant through energy and exergetic analysis. The analyzed cogeneration system was feasible, being able to reduce the amount of electric energy consumed by the conventional system of air conditioning and water heating (electrical resistances), using less than 30% of the exhaust energy content of the exhaust gases.
