Abstract
The split air conditioner is widely used around the world to control internal temperature of houses and buildings. It is important to understand how to quantify the cooling capacity of this kind of equipment and evaluate carefully the measurement uncertainties involved in the process. This paper describes meticulously the Air-Enthalpy methodology and, in particular, the equations to calculate the uncertainty of measurement when this methodology is utilized. To evaluate the effects that the independent variables errors have on the dependent variables the Error Propagation Theory is applied. For this experiment the relative measurement uncertainty for the cooling capacity calculated was 1.6%.
