Abstract
Coconut fiber is a very common residue in Brazil already used in various technological areas. This work evaluated the efficiency of composite fabricated with this residue as a thermal insulator to be used in low cost panels. Thus, green fiber coconut residue was used in the production of samples for thermal and chemical analyses. Temperature measurements of were performed through a calorimeter and the thermal conductivity coefficients were determined. The results indicate a good performance of the material about their thermal absorption when compared to a traditional material sold in the market.
