Abstract
For years the classrooms sound quality for the music course at a university institution had been questioned. There are no studies to prove the suitableness of these rooms, although most of users are not satisfied. In order to characterize the classrooms for musical teaching and practice, studies and measurements started by obtaining the acoustic impulse response following the recommendations of ISO 3382-1: 2009, in 17 classrooms and also one auditorium for presentations. The acoustic parameters were determined by the Reverberation Time (RT), Early Decay Time (EDT), Clarity (C80), Definition (D50) and Speech Transmission Index (STI). Overall, it can be said that the rooms are somewhat reverberant, requiring internal changes in order to improve the sound quality so that the musicians can perform better.
