Abstract
Rolling bearings need to transmit load at a very low friction, therefore understanding internal friction in these elements is relevant to reduce power loss and increase energy saving. The behaviour of grease lubricated bearings is not yet well understood, therefore, a substantial number of models were developed aiming the prediction of friction torque. Because of different assumptions and conditions, these models present different values for the frictional torque for the same operating conditions, so they cannot fully evaluate the power loss on a rolling bearing. An experiment is being developed to analyse the influence of grease formulation in order to develop a new friction torque model.
