Abstract
Enterprises pursuit innovative manufacturing systems aiming to increase flexibility, productivity and profitability, while reducing operational cost and idle time. Those issues were improved by the Japanese vehicle manufacturing Toyota. The pattern of evolution was then westernized and widely spread as Lean Manufacturing. But only applying Lean tools does not provide sustainable improvement, inasmuch as such tools (e.g. Kanban, A3, VSM) were developed for particular issues in Toyota, becoming good practices but not universal. Therefore, integrating a powerful and tested theory – such as TRIZ – may empower creative and innovative solutions for production problems. A systematic literature review has drafted the state of the art (SoTA) for Lean-TRIZ, then it was integrated to the improvement routines – as described by Toyota Kata of Improvement – through principles and organized tools. Hence, solutions designed by users of this method has been quantitatively evaluated by experts and the results statistically analysed. It is expected that the creativity level of the solutions be increased as well as the number of alternatives or starting points for solutions.
