Abstract
This work aims to the investigating the performance of ethylene terephthalate (PET) fillets evaporative cooling panels when compared to commercial cellulosic. PET fillets were pre-treated by sanding its surface to reduce its hydrophobicity. Four types of abrasive paper with three granulations (60, 80 and 100) were used and the evaluated analyzing the amount of water (g) retained on the their surface of the PET plastic samples was measured to find the best surface treatment for improved water retention. With this information, evaporative panels of different compaction will be constructed in which the effectiveness of direct evaporative cooling compared to the commercial cellulose panel were evaluated with encouraging results
