Abstract
The use of oil in the manufacture of lubricants has no renewable source and generates waste, which contributes to the use of vegetable oil as a proposal to solve this problem. Grape seed oil has abundant resources in Brazil, has a relatively lower cost when compared to other vegetable oils, and studies as a lubricant for mechanical systems are scarce, making it used to open new avenues for maintenance. The work consists in determining the physical properties of the viscosity at 40 °C, viscosity at 100 °C, viscosity index, density, flash point, combustion and fluidity, using the standards ASTM D445, ASTM D2270, ASTM D4052, ASTM D92 and ASTM D97, development and assembly of the experimental bench to perform the wear test. Grape seed oil presented superior properties at the flash point, combustion and viscosity index (83.09% higher), offering potential for use at high temperatures.
