Abstract
Twinning-Induced Plasticity (TWIP) steels belong to the 2nd generation of Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS). These steels combine unusual characteristics such as high yield strength, high ultimate strength and elevated ductility. However, the melting and solidification cycles associated to the resistance spot welding process may change the metallurgical microstructure of these steels, consequently affecting their mechanical performance for automotive applications. This paper focuses on investigating the effects of welding current on the metallurgical structure and mechanical behavior of resistance spot welded TWIP steel joints.
