Abstract
This work aims to investigate and compare the performance of two different organic Rankine cycle (ORC) configurations operating with different dry and isentropic working fluids in a typical cement factory with clinker capacity of 5.000 ton/day. A Simple and regenerative ORCs under subcritical conditions were simulated in Equation Engineering Solver (EES) software. These configurations aimed to generate electricity from cement production processes’ waste heat recovery (WHR). Results for the best fluid (R141b) showed that regenerative ORC is 12.64% and 2.40% more efficient thermally and exergetically than the simple ORC, respectively, while generates 18.76% more net power than the second one. On the other hand, R600 performed better results in terms of exergy efficiency in both cycles.
