Abstract
In the present work, an inverse problem approach is applied to identify the best launching point of unmanned parachute-cargo system in order to reach a specified target on the ground. The direct problem is based on 3 degrees of freedom model of the parachute flight dynamics, taking into account the wind profile and the airplane velocity. The inverse problem is solved by using the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm, identifying the launching point coordinates and the airplane flight direction. The results show the feasibility of the proposed procedure to be implemented in a mission planner software, which reduces the embedded parachute control system requirements, improving the precision.
