Abstract
Hybrid propulsion systems have higher security operation, less complex design and lower operational and developmental costs than liquid bipropellant systems. A combustion chamber with a quartz window was used for analysis of the burning process of high density polyethylene with hydrogen peroxide in concentrations of 85 and 90%. A pre-chamber with a CoMnAl bulk catalyst was used for decomposition of the H2O2 and injection of the decomposition products into the combustion chamber. Rectangular grains of polyethylene were burned for analysis of the regression rate. There was the formation of a lump at the port entrance of the grains, creating an adjacent recirculation zone. A power law for the fuel regression rate was derived in terms of the oxidizer flux
