Abstract
This study presents a flow analysis, using CFD, inside the CPAERO (“Centro de Pesquisa em Aerodinâmica Experimental”) wind tunnel of Federal University of Uberlandia. Two wind tunnel configurations were tested: without corner-vanes (3D) and with corner-vanes (3D). It was used finite volume method through Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes solution (RANS) to simulate the flow in the tunnel. As turbulence modeling it were used standard k-ε and realizable k-ε models. Full-scale model of the entire wind tunnel was considered. The goal of this work was to analyze how the corner-vanes affected the flow inside the tunnel (especially at the test section). After close analysis of the results, it was verified that the quality of the flow was significantly improved with the use of the corner-vanes, increasing the uniformity of the flow and making the streamlines more organized and uniform in the tunnel as a whole; however, at the test section the flow did not improve its uniformity, demanding a correction of the angle of the vanes positioned at the first corner.
