Abstract
There is a perception that the vibrations generated by equipment in the area of wood pulp preparation of a facility have been growing since the start of operations. Because vibrations can affect both human body and buildings, this has begun to be a cause of concern for exposed workers and the building integrity. A review is made of the main existing standards and procedures for evaluate the vibration magnitude people are exposed and if it can affect the human body’s comfort or health. This case study determines the degree of exposure and the comfort levels. Based on in locu measurements and procedures described in ISO 2631 it was possible to determine, according to the existing standards, the degree of exposure of workers, and if there is health risk and actions that are necessary to reduce the received level of vibration. The levels presented values below exposure limits, but above warning levels in some situations. The main remark and recommendation starts with the alternation of work team in the affected workplace in order to reduce exposure times.
