Abstract
The article evaluates the behavior of photovoltaic modules in distinct Brazilian regions and different arrangement positioning scenarios. The main objective is to determine the effectiveness of a photovoltaic array vertically positioned on the façades in comparison with those located on the roof of a standard building. Resolution of paper proposal considered aspects such as irradiance and energy generation. Through the System Advisor Model (S.A.M), it was possible to size solar panels and delimit performance aspects to obtain resulting data for each simulation performed. Nine simulations were done for each of the nine cities covered. The vertical solar panels were analyzed by orienting them to the north, east, south, and west. At Methodology's end, a global comparison was made among the results to conclude about the main idea. As expected, the façades' PV modules didn't generate significantly more energy than those on the rooftop. In fact, among the chosen cities, the vertical PV modules oriented to the north and the west presented an average of 50% of the total energy generated by the roof PV module array. Those oriented to the south and the east showed 26.1% and 46.7%, respectively.
