Abstract
This paper has as main objective the presentation of an alternative methodology for the calculation of radiative exchanges between opaque, black or gray surfaces forming an enclosure in non-participating media. Instead of using the procedure for calculating radiative heat exchanges between surfaces based on the radiation network analogy, the present methodology emphasizes the application of an energy balance to write three equations for each surface. The unknowns are the blackbody's emissive power, radiosity and heat transfer rate on the surface. Furthermore, this methodology is not restrict to a small number, in general up to three, radiative surfaces as is the case for the radiation-electric network analogy. Some applications are shown including, non radiative energy source and multimode heat transfer with more than three radiative surfaces.
