Abstract
Brazil is considered a privileged country due to its high solar radiation levels throughout the year. The territorial extension and the climatic conditions make it a country with an enormous potential in the power production from solar energy. This paper evaluates the power production of a solar dish/Stirling system in three brazilian regions, showing a relation between beam solar radiation and Stirling mechanical power obtained by the thermal transformation. A mathematical model that uses experimental global radiation data from the Brazilian SONDA program is developed and used to evaluate the solar system. The parabolic dish performance is calculated using Tonatiuh software and the NS03T Stirling engine power output is determined using the Modified Iwamoto model. Finally, the system is studied in the northeast, southeast and south regions for the Brazilian summer. Results point out that Brazil has a great potential of application of the dish/Stirling solar system in all the evaluated extension due to reach 700 W/m2. Also, the southeast region is the region with the highest potential production of average power of 2121 W
