THERMAL ANALYSIS OF THE ENDOTHERMIC REACTION OF THE STEAM REFORMING OF METHANE IN A FIXED BED REFORMER: NUMERICAL MODELLING AND COMPUTER SIMULATION

Abstract
Thermal performance of the SRM method is investigated in TFB reformer. This work had driven the thermal analysis of the reforming reaction for thermal energy storage to predict the endothermic reaction's temperature (ERT) profiles. The effect of the effect of the effective solid thermal conductivity of the solid phase (s, eff.) was investigated on ERT profiles in TFB reformer. When the numeral value of s,eff increases in TFB reformer, the ERT profile is notably rised. Unlike, when the numeral value of s,eff decreased in TFB reformer, the ERT profile is remarkably reduced. Before achieving the inflection points, there is a decrease of the heat rate because of the heat consumption by the reforming reaction. After passing the inflection points, there is an increase of the heat rate to keep the thermodynamic equilibrium of the reforming reaction
