DEVELOPMENT OF A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR THE EVALUATION OF UNGLAZED SOLAR COLLECTORS

Abstract
This paper presents a mathematical model of an unglazed solar collector. The model was developed using Excel VBA and it allows the prediction of the temperature profile of the water along the tube and the system efficiency. The mathematical model was simulated assuming similar behavior in the tubes. The analysis was performed considering a different number of elements inside the tube, for different mass flow rates. The results of the simplified model indicated that the prediction of the thermal performance was as expected, allowing to state that the model is a valuable tool for fast and reliable collector simulation.
