Abstract
The Earth-Air Heat Exchanger (EAHE) is a system used for the thermal improvement of environments. It is based on the use of thermal inertia present in the underground to improve the thermal comfort of built environments and reduce the use of conventional energy. The main objective of this work is to present a comparative analytical study of EAHE’s in a network arrangement with individual EAHE’s, identifying the advantages of using the networked system. An analytical model in the steady-state of an individual EAHE is used, considering the humid air enthalpy within the energy balance, assigning boundary conditions to the problem considering continental and tropical climates. Then, analytical modeling of the network system is used, based on constructal theory, where optimization of the network is performed using the Lagrange theorem. The initial results show the general equations of the networked EAHE system. Finally, preliminary studies were carried out and the code implemented and verified in the Matlab program showed a good agreement for the EAHE analytical model, as the results were accurate for the analysis performed.
