Abstract
Advanced exergoeconomic analysis has been used frequently in numerous recent studies to analyze various thermal systems. The advanced analysis allows, in addition to the quantification of exergetic destruction and investment and destruction costs, the fragmentation of these into avoidable, unavoidable, endogenous and exogenous parts. In this context, the present work sought to compare the results of the advanced exergoeconomic analysis in different operating conditions of an optimized cogeneration system and to evaluate the differences in relation to the conventional analysis. For this, the system operating at the lowest total cost and the system operating at the highest exergetic efficiency were analyzed. There was a significant difference between the results of the advanced exergoeconomic analysis for each operating condition. In addition, it was noted that the advanced exergoeconomic analysis would lead to a different order of equipment prioritization from that obtained with conventional analysis.
