Abstract
This work aims to develop a program for simulation and generation of georeferenced maps that indicate the business opportunities for photovoltaic systems in a given area/ region, in order to serve investors and future beneficiaries of distributed generation. For this, a robust algorithm was developed that uses several equations in the literature to estimate incident radiation and energy generated by a photovoltaic system. Global solar radiation, wind speed and temperature data are obtained from maps generated by 39 solarimetric stations within and near the borders of the state of Rio de Janeiro. A methodology was implemented to analyze the technical, financial and environmental feasibility of photovoltaic systems. After a series of validations and sensitivity analysis, the simulation tool presented satisfactory results in terms of its forecasting capacity. The results reveal the simulation tool capacity to generate georeferenced maps for several indicators, which allow the investor to have greater power in making decisions for their investments in photovoltaic solar energy.
