Abstract
This work has the purpose of investigating, through detailed three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses, the influence of Mach numbers on the airflow in a scramjet intake. This work focus on the influence Mach number has on the airflow and performance of the scramjet intake (compression ramps and isolator). Three cases with different Mach numbers have been considered in this work: Mach numbers of 6.8, 7.2 and 7.6. All the other parameters and boundary conditions are the same for these three cases. Mach number contour images and values of properties on the walls have been analyzed to obtain the conclusions present in this paper. Besides it, viscous effects due to the sidewall, and the influence these effects have on the airflow, are also investigated.. Higher Mach numbers also increase the total and static pressure.
