ANALYSIS OF THERMOCLINE STORAGE TANK CONFIGURATIONS FOR CONCENTRATED SOLAR POWER PLANTS

Abstract
The goal of this work is to investigate the thermal behavior of different configurations of a thermal energy storage system for a concentrated solar power plant filled with solid porous material. In order to accomplish this goal, a time sensitive model that describes turbulent flow in a hybrid medium(porous/clear) with both forced and natural convection will be used. Different tank aspect ratios and boundary conditions are expected to be analyzed. The model will be validated using published experimental data.
