Abstract
The objective of the present work is to provide a comprehensive study of the most used friction factor correlations and local loss models applied to the calculation of pressure drop along a steam line indicating the most suitable models for this application. A comparative study was performed where each model was evaluated against a 3D simulation, using CFD techniques. The expected result was to determine which of three most used friction factors -- Colebrook, Churchill and Blasius -- provided the best prediction of distributed pressure loss and which local loss model - K, 2K or 3-K - performed better in the prediction of local losses.
