Abstract
Angra 1 nuclear power plant, located in Rio de Janeiro, is a PWR (Pressurized Water Reactor) model and has the current net capacity to generate 640MW of electric power. This paper describes a thermodynamic analysis of the secondary coolant circuit, which is responsible for the conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy, with the support of a computational program, allowing the variation of some operational parameters applied in optimization methods for thermodynamic circuits primarily aiming the increase of energy efficiency. The methods applied were: condenser pressure variation and mass flow variation of one of the steam extractions used as hot source for the regeneration circuit. Both shows a satisfactory gain in efficiency (0.8% in the total cycle efficiency).
