Abstract
The present work deals with the impacts influenced by the variation of the load in the unknown parameters of the Wiebe function applied in a Cummins generator set diesel cycle, 4 cylinders, 3.9 liters and consuming b8 fuel oil. Experimental tests were performed to measure parameters such as the effective pressure indicated as a function of the crankshaft, fuel consumption, air consumption, electrical power and temperatures. In order to evaluate the combustion process, an empirical mathematical model was developed for the calculation of the rate of heat release, released heat, burned fuel mass fraction and determination of the unknown parameters of the Wiebe function that describes the combustion process in internal combustion engines. The obtained results show deviations of the maximum and minimum points of the effective pressure curves indicated with increase of the load applied to the generator set, directly influencing the start times and duration of the combustion and in the "m" parameter. This phenomenon occurs by the different amounts of air-fuel masses consumed by the engine to compensate the increase in load, raising the cylinder's internal temperatures, fuel burning rates, heat release and the velocity of the combustion process.
