Abstract
In the present work a comparative analysis of different correlations was performed to calculate the convection coefficient applied to the heat exchange between the working fluid and the internal walls of the combustion chamber of a spark ignition engine. This analysis was conducted through computational modeling, implemented in a two-zone combustion model. The rate of energy release is obtained through Wiebe functions. The calibration of the model was performed by means of experimental data obtained from a single cylinder test engine. The results showed that, except for Sitkei’s correlation, all of the others reach a good level of precision. Also, it could be seen that Woschini’s correlations had the highest degree of precision when determining the heat transfer between the working fluid and the walls.
