Abstract
In many engineering systems, such as compact heat exchangers, system performance depends on laminar flow development in minichannels. This study investigates effects of Reynolds number, hydraulic diameter, and channel aspect ratio on the entrance length in rectangular minichannels. Numerical investigations were performed for minichannels with hydraulic diameters between 1 and 4 mm, Reynolds numbers between 100 and 1000, and channel aspect ratios between 0.5 and 2. The results show good agreement when compared to other correlations for microscale and macroscale.
